Frequently Asked Questions
What type of hair do you use for the loc extensions?
100% human hair, designed to look and feel natural.
How long do loc extensions last?
With proper installation and maintenance, loc extensions can last for years. Regular care and consistent maintenance help keep them looking clean, natural, and long-lasting.
Can I install the loc extensions myself?
Some people install at home using a crochet needle, but we recommend a professional for best results.
We also offer installation services — book via our contact page or DM us on Instagram @jca.hair
How many loc extensions do I need for a full head?
It depends on the thickness (diameter) you want:
0.4–0.6cm: 80–120 locs
0.8cm: 60–100 locs
These are general guidelines — you can add or reduce based on your desired loc thickness and hair density.
If you’re booking installation services with me, please note:
0.4cm = Extra Small/Small
0.6cm = Small/Medium
0.8cm = Medium
Lower hair densities are recommended to size down, higher densities to size up. These are the only sizing options I offer for installation.
If you'd like larger or smaller locs, you’re welcome to purchase those separately — just email [jca@jcahair.com] to inquire about custom sizing or recommendations.
How many loc extensions in one bundle?
Each bundles contains 20 loc extensions.
Because every head size and parting pattern is different, most full installations require multiple bundles.
Typical guide:
40 locs = 2 bundles
60 locs = 3 bundles
80 locs = 4 bundles

What's the difference between texture locs and core locs?
Core Locs have a smoother, more uniform finish and are ideal if you prefer a cleaner, neater loc appearance.
Texture Locs have a more natural, mature look with added texture throughout the loc, helping them blend seamlessly with many established loc styles.
Both options are made from 100% human hair and can be installed, maintained, and treated like natural locs.
If you're unsure which option is right for you, email jca@jcahair.com and we'll be happy to help.
How do I care for my loc extensions?
- Moisturise regularly
- Use residue-free shampoos
- Keep your scalp clean and moisturised
- Sleep with a satin/silk scarf or bonnet
Regular monthly maintenance is HIGHLY recommended to ensure extensions are securely attached.
